A little about us

COMPTON PRE-SCHOOL HAS BEEN RATED ‘OUTSTANDING’ BY OFSTED (OCT ’19)

Please be aware that we recommend that you submit your registration form as early as possible as we find that we start to fill our spaces at least a year in advance. Children MUST attend for a minimum of the equivalent of 2 whole days (4 sessions).

Visit our ‘Testimonial’ page to see some comments from our pre-school families.

Compton Pre-school was established in September 1997 and operates in a classroom on the grounds of Compton C of E Primary School. It is registered with Ofsted to care for children from the term when they are 3 until they start school. It is privately owned by Mrs Sharon Matthews and employs five fully qualified members of staff who hold either an NVQ2 or NVQ3 qualification in childcare and education, a diploma in pre-school practice or have qualified teacher status. The manager is Mrs Sam Matthews, Miss Chloe Warren is the deputy manager and Mrs Sam Beal is the special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO).

The pre-school is open during term time on Monday to Friday mornings from 8.30am to 11.30am and Monday to Friday afternoons from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. It also runs a breakfast club from 8am each morning and a holiday club on certain days during the school holidays. Children can stay all day from 8.30am to 3.30pm, in which case they will require a healthy packed lunch.

15 hours of early years funding is available to all children from the term after they reach their third birthday and we have also adopted the 30 hour funding scheme for eligible families. If anyone is not eligible for funding, or needs more than the free hours allocated, fees are £5.75 per hour (£6 from Sept 2024). These are payable each half term, in advance.

As part of our aim to establish links in the community we have forged a relationship with Greenacres Residential Home and have also acquired a planter at Collings Park which was kindly donated by the Collings Park Trust. Compton Pre-school follows the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum.
